Don't worry, And/Or is still alive, but sort of on hold. I know times can get tough in the these winter months, so And/Or is going to be hibernating for a little while. This means, extra time to get your submissions in for issue #4, "Fucked and/or Up: The Wasted Issue". We'll keep you posted as things start to take shape, thanks for your patience!

What is And/Or?
And/Or is a free, independent, DIY, arts/culture magazine based out of the Twin Cities. Each issue has a different theme, and all the content is made up of submissions from local writers, poets, photographers, illustrators, and artists of all kinds, responding to that theme.
And/Or Magazine was started in January 2009 by Jeni Kozicky, as her senior thesis project at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and within only a few months it has grown to become completely self-sustaining. Five hundred copies of each issue are printed and then hand-bound by a group of dedicated contributors. The printing costs are entirely paid for by benefit shows that are held for each issue, featuring talented musicians from the Twin Cities. Want to be a part of And/Or? Help us grow!

Where can I find And/Or?
And/Or is distributed for free throughout the Twin Cities area in coffee shops, record stores, etc. You might find them at Treehouse Records, Bob's Java Hut, Caffetto, Fifth Element, Arise! Bookstore, Butter, Urban Bean, Pizza Luce, Robot Love, Saint Sabrina's, Plan B...any place with a space for flyers and bulletins.
There are 500 copies printed of each issue and once they're gone they're gone. It's sort of a scavenger hunt. Exciting, right?

How do I make a submission?
To make a submission to And/Or,
please send us your work at:

And keep in mind the following...
• under 1,000 words (for writing)
• up to 3 pages (for images)
• the page format is approx. 5" x 7"
• it will be printed in black and white!
• send PDF or TIFF files for images
• images should be 300 dpi
• include your full name
• include a link to your portfolio
• content should relate to the concept

The Wasted Issue
Whether it be caffeine, nicotine, prescription drugs or street drugs, it seems as though everyone has to get their fix somehow. Even the adrenaline from something as simple as riding a bike can be a natural high for some people. Then there's individuals like Dr. Albert Hoffman (who invented LSD) and Terrence McKenna who explored the unconscious mind with the use of psychedelic drugs. Sigmund Freud experimented with cocaine in his early years, believing it would work as a panacea for many disorders. Medical marijuana has become legal in several states and is close to being passed in Minnesota as well. Drugs are one of those things that everyone has an opinion on.
And we want to hear yours.
